External queries
Status: implemented
Provide a common platform for interrogating external databases. I certainly would go for a Twisted-based solution (so that it is asynchronous, robust and integrates both in a GUI and a command line application). For webpage scraping, BeautifulSoup is nice.
Open issues:
[Who?] limit the abstracts in the result list (evt with a button to extend it)
[Who?] support drag/drop to add results to the db, or provide a clue that it's on activating the entry
[Who?] Add the name of the source in the Result popup (WOK results for ....)
[Who?] find some common interrogation system, eventually coupled with an "Advanced search" box. See Unified Queries for more information
[Who?] Citeseer: failure when searching "foobar". - Seems to be related to the lack of a 'RLS' comment in the result page when the site is down
[Who?] WOK: search papers that cite a given paper
[Who?] PubMed: keep the eutils URL
[Who?] keep history of the search box's content
[Who?] Extract DOI from Pubmed (in medline-aid??)
There is already a list of External Databases.
